Europe Day (May 9th): a cross-border musical celebration of Europe
Liveurope & EBU present Europe Day: a cross-border musical celebration of Europe
For the 7th consecutive year, Liveurope will be celebrating Europe Day doing what they know best: throwing the spotlight on fresh new European talent. And, for this year’s edition, they have the support of public radio stations part of the European Broadcasting Union to help artists reach even wider audiences.
Each of the 15 participating Liveurope venues has recorded an exclusive mini-showcase with a promising local artist which will be broadcasted by a number of radios across Europe and the world, starting on the week of Europe Day. Some of the radios are also preparing very special broadcasts that will bring you to behind the scenes of this initiative, including interviews with the artists and venues.
Though the pandemic has brought the circulation of artists within Europe to a nearly complete halt, this initiative shows the importance of continuing to foster cross-border collaborations and highlights the crucial role concert halls play in developing artists and the future of the European music sector.
This campaign is supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission and has the official endorsement of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the Cultural Creators Friendship Group in the European Parliament.
Tune in to your favourite radio from May 2nd to join our celebration of Europe and discover fresh new sounds. All showcase videos will also be available for on-demand viewing on www.europeday.live from May 9th.
